About Online Integrative Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is the core discipline around which I assimilate a growing number of other therapeutic approaches. This helps me to work sensitively, flexibly and responsively with a variety of different issues, clients and contexts. “Integrative” means that I employ common aspects that unite these disciplines, in addition to stand-out aspects that are unique to individual approaches. The approaches I integrate are as complementary online as offline.

What does it mean?
Integrative Hypnotherapy
I am an integrative Hypnotherapist, which means that I integrate a number of different approaches into my online Hypnotherapy work. I have the experience and flexibility to tailor my approach and interventions to meet your needs, helping you to fulfil your goals for therapy.
Person-centred
This approach addresses the fundamental foundation of therapy – a therapeutic relationship that is safe, genuine, empathic, unconditionally positive and client-led. It cannot be underestimated how important this is to the success of all other approaches and interventions
Exposure therapy and cognitive restructuring
These are subsets of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Safe and managed exposure to troubling emotions restructures clients’ limiting beliefs. This can bring about a state of long-awaited equilibrium
Existential therapy
Similarly to mindfulness and exposure therapy, fear, or angst (about existence) is leant into. In transpersonal therapy, fear is not something to be overcome, but to respond to as a motivation for living purposefully and significantly, instead of being reacted to with desperation
Mindfulness
Mindfulness can promote a simple awareness of and presence with an emotional experience, without judgement, or previous meaning-making. This helps to bring about relief through acceptance, making space for emotions to regulate themselves
Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis is a therapeutic tool that can be applied to diverse clinical profiles of clients in helping them overcome obsessive fears of death. Hypnotherapy grants clients access to deeply underlying subconscious fears that may otherwise remain hidden.
Transpersonal therapy
Transpersonal therapy focuses on the importance of transcending the self and exploring personal and spiritual meaning in order to change your relationship with life. In terms of meaningfulness, transpersonal therapy overlaps with existential therapy. In terms of self-transcendence it overlaps with mindfulness.
To Learn A Bit More About Your Therapist…
What Can You Expect From An Online Integrative Hypnotherapy Session?
During a typical (online) integrative hypnotherapy session my attention is yours. I attend to your relationship with yourself and the world, and your goals for therapy. Although I use many different techniques and approaches, I am not typically thinking about selecting a technique, or approach to use. These elements have already been integrated into my way of working and are generally called upon as second nature.
What can you Expect at the Beginning of Therapy?
Towards the beginning of therapy, such as during the first session:
- I give you important information about what is involved
- I help you answer any remaining, or new questions you may have that were not answered in the initial inquiry
- We work to get an overview of background information relevant to your issue/s and goals. This is something we may come back to, where important, at any point during therapy
How Many Sessions can you Expect?
I understand how important this question is.
There is wide variation in the number of sessions required for clients to feel comfortable that they have got what they desire from therapy. The quality of the therapeutic alliance is the most fundamental factor in determining the effectiveness of therapy. Client readiness and preparedness to be vulnerable is another factor in effectiveness. This can’t be forced, so allow yourself the time you need to find your readiness and vulnerability. This may give you an impression about time invested vs. progress gained
Ultimately, of course, you have the final choice about how many sessions you have. Where this is on your mind, please let me know and I will tailor my way of working for you to get the most out of and wrap everything up within the number of sessions on the table.
Evidence suggests that for clients with Generalised Anxiety Disorder 14 2-hour sessions of integrative psychotherapy had significantly reduced symptoms for 18 participants.
Further evidence suggests that 24 sessions are adequate for integrative psychotherapists working with depressive symptoms to fulfil clients’ preferences and goals.

What can you Expect From Hypnosis?
- Expect to be relaxed during therapy in general and deeply relaxed during hypnosis12
- Expect to be completely aware during hypnosis and every other stage in therapy12
- Expect to be in full control of yourself and your participation12
Hypnosis is a natural and familiar state of mind to every human being, which you go in and out of several times a day. If you should ever want, or need to exit hypnosis for any reason you can, by simply making the choice to.
Expect hypnosis to be used, where it is beneficial. This may not necessarily be in every session. If you would like to work without using hypnosis during any session that is perfectly fine. There are so many ways of working that there are always alternative options.
Expect hypnosis to take a variety of different possible forms. There are many different hypnotic processes and inductions. Some rapid, some gradual. Some are more conversational, some are more non-verbal.
“Hypnosis is the oldest Western form of psychotherapy, it’s a very powerful means of changing the way we use our minds to control perception and our bodies” – Dr. David Spiegel

What can you Expect From Working Online?
Expect online integrative hypnotherapy to be just as effective as in-person integrative hypnotherapy78.
Expect to have so much relaxed awareness and control, that if the internet happens to become disconnected during hypnosis, you simply and comfortably return to your usual state of awareness, reconnect, or otherwise communicate with me until the issue is resolved and we are back online.
To engage in online therapy it is important that you:
Expect to have so much relaxed awareness and control, that if the internet happens to become disconnected during hypnosis, you simply and comfortably return to your usual state of awareness, reconnect, or otherwise communicate with me until the issue is resolved and we are back online.
To engage in online therapy it is important that you:
- Have an internet connection and WiFi signal, or ethernet connection that is sufficient to stream video calls
- Have a webcam and microphone (internal, or external) to use
- Have access to a private, well lit space for the duration of sessions
- Reduce, or eliminate distractions while in sessions. You may wish to silence device notifications and inform others nearby to not distract you, unless there is an emergency, of course
I recommend that you use a desktop, laptop, or tablet computer for sessions. Sessions can be conducted to a surprisingly effective standard, when using only a mobile phone, if necessary.
Use of headphones helps to protect confidentiality and improve sound quality. Be mindful that sound can carry through walls and open windows etc.

What can you Expect In-Between Sessions?
In between sessions I may set you tasks, or you may set yourself tasks and ask me to help you to be accountable.
Writing, or recording a reflective journal is a helpful therapeutic practice to engage in and I would encourage you to do so, whether we work together, or not.
While there are swathes of emotional nuance that Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, such as Chat GPT, are not capable of picking up on, or communicating, AI tools can be very helpful for text-based therapy, giving research-based, strategic and personalised support. You may wish to use such tools and I would encourage you to safely use any tool that you find helpful.
